The New York State Council for the Social Studies By-Laws outline the requirements for being elected to the Board of Directors and holding an office on the Board of Directors. Directors are volunteers and are elected by the NYSCSS general membership to serve two-year terms. Officers also serve a two-year term of office and may not serve more than four (4) consecutive terms of office, unless unanimously approved for nomination by the board to waive or to fill a vacancy in an officer position. Terms of office run July 1-June 30. Nominations for officer positions on the Board of Directors open the day after the last day of the Annual Convention.
