Join our Leadership Team!

Please consider nominating yourself or a fellow NYSCSS colleague for one of the open seats on the Board of Directors for a two year term starting July 1, 2023. These officer positions require attendance at monthly board meetings, and other duties listed below by position.  Please be advised these duties may change in accordance with the needs of the organization and amendments made to the leadership manual.

Nominations open March 13, 2023 and close May 13, 2023 at 4PM.

Requirements for nomination:

  • Active (paid) member for one calendar year prior to the date of the nomination period.
  • Submit a position statement identifying the position you are running for and what makes you an ideal candidate.
  • Submit a resume/CV.
  • Submit a headshot (photo) for inclusion on the ballot.
  • Electronic submission of documents to tom.michalek@nyscss.org


Board Positions up for Election in 2023


Vice President of Member Outreach

The Vice President of Member Outreach will chair the convention planning committee, will act as parliamentarian of meetings of the board of directors, and will oversee or serve on committees as assigned by the President. This position serves a two-year term.

Treasurer

The Treasurer is the lead director for oversight of the financial condition and affairs of the corporation. The Treasurer oversees and keeps the board informed of the financial condition of NYSCSS and of audit or financial review results. This position serves a two-year term.

Member At-Large

The Member At-Large is a voting member with no designated office, category, grade level, or professional role. Duties include assisting with all functions of the Board and any duties specified by the President. This position serves a two-year term.

Nominations Committee

The Nominating Committee consists of members of the council who will assist the council in the recruitment of future leadership for the organization.   The committee should strive to nominate candidates who work at different grade levels and in different settings (e.g., K-12 public and private schools, cultural education institutions, colleges and universities), and who come from various areas of the state.   The committee will meet periodically to discuss and vet candidates to present to the current Board of Directors for an election by members.   If you would like to join the committee please contact the nominations chair.
