NYSCSS 89th Annual Convention Proposal Submission Form
Make your voice heard - submit a proposal to present at our 2027 Annual Convention!
Our theme - Social Studies: Every Voice Matters! - reminds us about the important role Social Studies serves in our democratic society. As educators, we make choices every day that empower and celebrate the human experience. As you develop your proposal, we ask you to consider how your workshop or clinic will inform and inspire Social Studies educators.
We’re interested in sessions that:
Demonstrate social studies teaching strategies and routines that empower and celebrate all voices from the past and present
Inform attendees on innovative teaching practices that meet the needs of all learners - particularly students with disabilities and English Language Learners
Inspire teachers with real-world, effective strategies to meet the challenges of today’s classroom (e.g., AI, differentiation, inquiry, literacy) that they can use the next week
Model how to support social studies educators to ensure that they have what they need to be successful, inspired and celebrated!
Our Annual Convention schedule is organized into 45-minute workshop sessions and 90-minute clinics. Most of the 90-minute clinics will be scheduled on Saturday morning. We encourage proposals from all focus areas of Social Studies education, Elementary, Middle and High School teachers, Psychology teachers, Supervisors, museum educators, curriculum specialists, and more! The Proposal Evaluation Rubric is available at this link. Proposals are due Friday, October 23, 2026. We will be notifying accepted presenters by late November 2026.
We have an amazing convention planned in Albany with interesting and relevant keynote and featured speakers, exhibitors and networking events. More information about registration, hotel rooms and exhibitors is coming soon!
If you have questions about submitting a proposal, please do not hesitate to reach out to Lisa Kissinger, at president@nyscss.org.
