Curriculum and Assessment Committee

The Curriculum and Assessment Committee will consist of no fewer than twelve (12) members who will be appointed for staggered three-year terms. It will be co-chaired by a representative from teacher and supervisor members of NYSCSS. Its function is to analyze and disseminate information and developments pertaining to social studies education at the elementary, middle, and secondary levels; review curriculum documents and assessment tools; publish resource, methodological, and curricular materials; focus on issues related to the ongoing professional development of social studies teachers; and perform additional functions as designated by the Board of Directors and President.   Each year the Curriculum & Assessment Committee sponsor webinars for NYSCSS members   The Committee also participated in the development of the program for the for the NYSCSS Summer Institute.

Resources developed for NYSCSS members in the 2018-2019 school year are available in the Member Resources Section.  Links to recordings of webinars conducted in 2018 and 2019 will be active for one year after the webinar.   You must be an active member of NYSCSS to access these resources.  To get to these resources, open the link next to "Get Involved" on the blue menu bar and follow the directions there!
