"Teaching Future-Ready Students, Using AI With Purpose"

Part I with Ed Finney:

As artificial intelligence becomes more common in classrooms, preservice teachers must learn how to use AI intentionally, ethically, and in ways that strengthen learning. This session explores practical strategies for using AI to support lesson planning, differentiation, and feedback while preserving student voice, critical thinking, and academic integrity. Participants will examine real classroom examples and learn how to design assignments that emphasize process over product. The session also addresses setting clear expectations for responsible AI use and preparing students for a future where AI is a learning tool, not a replacement for thinking.

Ed Finney is a technology integration specialist at Schodack Central School District, specializing in educational technology and instructional design. His research focuses on the effective integration of digital tools in K–12 education, exploring innovative approaches to enhance student engagement and learning outcomes. He is passionate about empowering educators with practical strategies to leverage technology for meaningful instruction.
