This will be an interactive evening and a great opportunity for all preservice teachers across the state.

Registration Fee is $50*

Attendees will receive:

Light dinner served with plenty of food available. Please bring something to take food home in.  

Free attendance to the 2025 NYSCSS Conference

1-year free membership beginning March 5, 2025 to NYSCSS 

Registration information:

Preservice teachers can register for the annual convention at a significantly discounted rate of $50.00, which includes the March 5h preservice event (light dinner, discussions, presentations, interview practice) and full conference attendance (Thursday-Saturday-March 6-8, 2025).  

Online registration deadline is Wednesday, February 26, 2025

*For preservice teachers to take advantage of this great discount, they need to be students in undergraduate, or graduate programs, and not full-time employment with a district or other educationally related full-time position. If unsure, please contact Tim Potts

4:20-4:30    Structure of the evening/making the best of the evening

4:30-6:00   Part I-Ed Finney-Educational Technology Expert-"What Preservice Teachers need to know about Educational Technology."  

Part I with Ed Finney will focus on the essential skills and knowledge needed to integrate technology into classrooms effectively. Attendees will learn how to research a district’s technological ecosystem—exploring devices, Learning Management Systems, and instructional platforms—to demonstrate their readiness to support district goals. The session will provide practical strategies for navigating classroom technology, addressing common challenges, and making purposeful connections between tech tools and student learning outcomes. Preservice teachers will leave the session prepared to embrace technology confidently as a cornerstone of innovative and effective teaching practices.

6:00-6:30   Light Meal-Meet and Greet Mixer with interviewers/VIP's

6:30-8:30   Part II-Round Table Interviews-How to secure an interview, resumes, cover letters, teacher/school websites, portfolios, OLAS, etc.
