Celebrate Social Studies V

Location: 215 Heyward Street, Brooklyn, NY 11206

We are pleased to announce that a very popular Professional Development Day, Celebrate Social Studies is returning to the Juan Morel Campos Secondary School in Brooklyn. It will be held on Saturday September 29, 2012 from 8:30 AM to 1:30 PM. The workshop is open to all teachers in New York City free of charge.

This event is sponsored by the History Department of the Campos Secondary School, and it is cosponsored by the New York Geographic Alliance and the Association of Teachers of Social Studies (ATSS/UFT). There will be workshops for teachers from all grade levels and a variety of social studies topics. Definitely there will be geographic presentations, including how to use National Geographic's Tile Maps in your classroom. Several Teacher-Leaders of the New York Geographic Alliance will be presenting at CSS 5. Geography will be well-represented, but there will also be sessions on history, government, etc. NYGA will be featuring our new module for Grade 4 ELA on the Erie Canal and the Hudson River, aligned with the Common Core State Standards.

If you are still interested in attending the conference, email John Agnello, Vice-Principal of Juan Morel Campos Secondary School.
