Pre-Service Teacher Night-March 8th, 2023

Part I-A“make and take” session centered on making your future classes more primary source friendly. Presenters will share how to utilize and implement "Consider the Source New York: Teaching with Historical Records" into the classroom.
Part II-The evening discussions will focus on candidate website/porfolios, the interview process, first-year survival skills, and settling into your new teaching position.
This will be an interactive evening and a great opportunity for all preservice teachers across the state.
Registration Fee is $35*

Registration information:
Preservice teachers can register for the annual convention at a discounted rate of $35.00, which includes the March 8th preservice event (light dinner, discussions, presentations, interview practice) and full conference attendance (Thursday-Saturday-March 9-11, 2023).
Online registration deadline is Monday, March 6, 2023.
For preservice teachers to take advantage of this great discount, they need to be students in undergraduate, or graduate programs, and not employed with a district or other educationally related full-time position. If unsure, please contact Tim Potts.
Preservice teachers need to enter preservice2023 as the code (no spaces & all lower case) when registering.

4:00-4:10 Registration
Attendees sign in/name badge. Accept payment from those who are signing up in person.

4:20-4:30 Structure of the evening-How to get the most out of pre-service 2022
4:30-6:00 Consider the Source New York with Jordan Jace (NYSA)
6:00-6:45 Refreshments- Meet and Greet Mixer
(All round table interviewers will mix with pre-service candidates for networking)
6:45-8:30 Table Top Interviews
How to get an interview, resumes, cover letters, OLAS vs. direct contact, etc.
Roundtable conversations & interview questions.
Teaching careers in a 2023 world. Will the teacher shortage help in getting a position?
