  • (This is the pre-service event on Wednesday, March 11th evening. Registration includes the Wednesday evening 3/11/20 event plus one additional day of conference, either Thursday, March 12 or Friday, March 13th.) This is for pre-service teachers only & invited guests.


Thank you for your interest in the New York State Council for the Social Studies 82nd Annual Convention, Think Global. Act Local! 

We are returning to the Albany Capital Center  March 12-14, 2020. Pre-Service evening is on Wednesday, March 11, 2020 from 4:00-8:00.

MEMBERSHIP: Required to attend the Convention. Non-member registration includes NYSCSS Membership for one (1) calendar year. One annual convention per yearly membership rate. Please click here to learn about our various membership options.


Convention registration includes breakfast and lunch on Thursday and Friday and continental breakfast on Saturday.  

PAYMENT:  School district purchase orders must be on file/in hand electronically or mailed by Friday February 28, 2020 for convention registration. 

Credit card payments for convention registration will be processed to 7PM on March 4, 2020

Please do not wait to the last minute to register. Please get all prior approvals with your district in order & processed. NYSCSS is responsible for timely food counts to our caterer at the Albany Capital Center. 

Please do not delay in processing the proper paperwork with your district. Registering with your district is NOT registering with NYSCSS. You must complete registration through our payment portal  All payments can be made online through our PayPal link using a bank account transaction, debit card, or credit card. When the transaction is completed, you will receive an e-mail invoice confirming payment. You do not need to have a PayPal account to use this option. Please scroll all the way to the bottom to input your chosen credit or debit card.

Purchase orders: A purchase order is a document that encumbers funds from your school district's specified budget lines. It is a promise to pay. If you are planning to pay with a purchase order at the time of registration, please select purchase order. You will receive an auto-generated invoice that is your INVOICE to submit to your district. IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO SUBMIT THE INVOICE OR YOUR REGISTRATION MAY NOT GET PAID PRIOR TO THE CONVENTION. YOU MUST CHECK WITH YOUR SCHOOL SUPPORT STAFF TO SEE IF THE INVOICE HAS BEEN PROCESSED TO CREATE THE DISTRICT CHECK TO PAY THE REGISTRATION COSTS. 

New York City Department of Education Teachers: Please note that due to payment issues with the DOE you will need to contact Tim Potts (Treasurer) first before registering. 

All presenters must be registered & paid electronically or a purchase order must be on file by Friday, January 31, 2020.

District staffers-please note that you must check the above address in WinCap and make sure all OLD NYSCSS mailing addresses are removed from WinCap. 

*Please note: NO refunds will be issued for any costs after February 21, 2020 including weather related issues unless the entire convention is cancelled by NYSCSS personnel. Written notification via email of your cancellation must be received by 2/21/20. 


SCHOOL/ORGANIZATION PAYING YOUR COSTS?: If your registration costs are being paid by an organization with a credit or debit card, each individual's registration must be done separately and this will need to be done by the person registering as you will be using your own account settings and password. If you elect or are required to have district personnel in your business office to have access to your personal NYSCSS account (for current NYSCSS members only), we suggest you change your member password before and after such payment.

If your school or organization is paying by check or purchase order, please make certain that the names of attendees being paid for are written on all documents accompanying the mailed check or purchase order. A school or organization's contact person (with phone and e-mail address) should be identified on the purchase order.
