The New York Geographic Alliance is pleased to announce that GeoFest is returning to Monroe Community College on Saturday October 22nd. Our theme for this fall is Celebrating Our Communities. In addition, we are partnering with the Rochester Area Council for the Social Studies (RACSS), which means it will be bigger and better than ever. There are currently 24 different workshop options - geography, history, economics, government, and elementary.

We will have workshops in the morning on a variety of topics for all grade levels. Click here for a list of workshops.  Topics include: Integrating Social Studies with Core Common Standards, GeoHistoGrams for Global and U.S. History, Avoiding Bankrupcy, Step into Africa (a new exhibit at the Seneca Park Zoo), Teaching About Germany, Hip-Hop US History, and Teaching Geography with Japanese Art and Literature. And that's just the short list. When the workshops are over at 12:30 PM, there will be an optional field trip throughout Rochester, including a neighborhood walk and a picnic-style lunch in the South Wedge District.

Teachers and pre-teachers are all invited to attend. It is easy to register from our website in the Upcoming Events section.

The cost for registration for the morning workshops is just $10. If you register for the field trip also, the cost is $25. This includes a continental breakfast and a picnic-style lunch. College students enrolled in an education program, or a Geosciences major will receive a $5 discount. If you register online, you will also receive this discount.
