Resolutions Committee

The Resolutions Committee will consist of no more than five (5) members who will be appointed for staggered three-year terms. Its function is to review proposed resolutions for the National Council for the Social Studies and recommend those resolutions that NYSCSS should support. Duties of the Resolutions Committee include:

  1. Will accept resolutions from members and councils.
  2. Will submit resolutions to the general membership.

The NCSS House of Delegates (HOD) provides a forum for the general membership of NCSS, as represented by state councils, communities, and associated groups, to bring ideas, principles, beliefs, and actions regarding social studies education to the attention of the NCSS Board of Directors. Resolutions are the framework through which the NCSS membership at-large makes recommendations to the Board.  NYSCSS has a long-standing history of sponsoring and co-sponsoring NCSS Resolutions.  

In March 2021, the NCSS House of Delegates approved the following Resolutions that were co-sponsored by NYSCSS:
